Direct Line has launched a new service for business insurance customers to replace stolen or damaged essential technology within 24 hours of an approved claim.

The Business Tech Essentials service, which is included with business contents cover for retail, hair and beauty, and B&B, as well as with electrical items cover for office and professional customers, helps provide small businesses with peace of mind and value as they focus on recovering from the pandemic, according to Direct Line.

It provides customers with £2,500 worth of business equipment cover, per person, while they work at home or when travelling between their home and work premises.

In the event that essential tech gets damaged or stolen in these locations, Business Tech Essentials will help to get customers back up and running quickly by replacing tech within 24 hours of a valid claim.

Customers needing cover above £2,500 per person when working from home can increase this by adding ‘Property Away from the Premises’ cover to their policy. This add on covers their business equipment when out and about elsewhere and also comes with the Business Tech Essentials service.

The Business Tech Essentials service covers mobiles, laptops and tablets, desktop PCs and phones, TVs, and printers.

Jane Morgan, SME product manager at Direct Line business insurance, said: “We’ve seen first-hand how working practices have changed over the last year, and particularly how small businesses have had to adapt to evolving Covid guidelines.”

“A long-term shift towards a more flexible working environment is likely, and so products and services that reflect business needs in this new working climate are more important than ever. Business Tech Essentials is one such service, helping small businesses to feel secure in a hybrid working model.”

“When it comes to giving SMEs the reassurance they need that, when things go wrong, they’ll never be out of action for long, we’re on it.”
